Meru Stays is a dream that began with my parents, Girdhar and Tanuja who always imagined creating a home in the mountains where people could come to slow down, reconnect and experience the warmth of Kumaon. What started as their dream gradually became a place we could share with travellers from across the country.
I’m Shaivy, an IITian, and like many people, I have a regular 9-to-6 life away from the mountains. But alongside that life, I chose to carry forward my parents’ dream and bring Meru Stays to life. Building and running a homestay while continuing with a full-time career isn't always easy, but Meru is something that feels deeply personal to me — a way of staying connected to my roots while creating a space that others can call their own

Meru means “Apna” in Kumaoni language, & that word captures what we want Meru Stays to be. Not just another place to stay, but a home in the hills where you are welcomed warmly, wake up to the mountains, share stories over chai & leave with memories that feel a little like your own.
